Ford has added a new top-spec variant to the Ranger ute lineup, with the 2023 Ford Ranger Platinum going on sale now before the first deliveries land locally in May 2023. Priced from $76,990 plus on-road costs, the Ranger Platinum adds a number of new features to the Ranger from the Everest Platinum, and sits below the top-spec Ranger Raptor in the Australian Ranger lineup.

“We listened hard to our customers throughout the design and development of the Next-Generation Ranger, and in doing so we reinvented the Pick-Up Truck segment,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia.

“We’ve seen growth in high-end variants in this segment over recent years, so we challenged ourselves to create a vehicle that provides all of our customer’s wants and needs.”

Sitting above the Ranger Wildtrak, the 2023 Ford Ranger Platinum takes a lot of luxury equipment from the Everest Platinum. Additional interior equipment for the Ranger Platinum over the lesser Wildtrak includes a larger 12.4-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch portrait touchscreen, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, quilted leather upholstery with heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory functionality, wood-like interior trim, more soft touch materials and Platinum badging.

On the outside, the Ranger Platinum adds larger 20-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beam, a unique grille, Platinum badging on the bonnet, chrome exterior detailing, a damped tailgate and Ford’s new ‘Flexible Rack System’.

The Flexible Rack System feature crossbars that swing across the roof when needed, can be adjusted to two different lengths, and then stored away in the roof rails when not being used. The sliding load rack can be operated by one person and locks into five different positions along the length of the load box. A pop-up crossbar increases the height of the loading platform to match the folding roof racks.

The only engine available with the 2023 Ford Ranger Platinum is the 184kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

The new Ranger variant follows a number of smaller changes to the 2023 Ranger lineup, including an integrated trailer brake controller for XLT and Sport variants, a rear camera on the XL Cab Chassis, a new $500 20-inch wheel package for the Wildtrak and new equipment for the XLT and Sport Touring Pack. The 2023 Ranger range is up to $1,300 more expensive than 2022.
