BYD has officially launched the updated Atto 3 EVO in Australia, delivering a substantial refresh to its best-selling electric SUV. The new lineup introduces a redesigned interior, expanded safety technology, and enhanced day-to-day practicality, building upon the model’s value-focused reputation.
Customer deliveries for the BYD Atto 3 EVO have already commenced in Australia, arming the popular EV with the features and technology needed to compete alongside newer rivals such as the Kia EV3, MG S5 EV, and Geely EX5.

Redesigned Cabin & Enhanced Practicality
BYD has delivered the most substantial interior update to the Atto 3 since its initial arrival in late 2022. The most notable change is the shift to a column-mounted gear selector, which replaces the outgoing centre-console shifter to free up valuable storage space between the front seats.
Across the EVO lineup, BYD has introduced:
- Modernised Tech: A larger 8.8-inch digital instrument display, a redesigned steering wheel, and upgraded 50W wireless phone charging (up from 15W).
- Refined Finishes: New interior colour schemes, redesigned door trims, ambient lighting, and rain-sensing wipers are now standard across both grades.
- More Cargo Space (Premium): The flagship Premium variant gains a new 101L front boot (frunk) beneath the bonnet and an expanded rear cargo area, which grows from 434L to 490L.
- Increased Towing: The Atto 3’s braked towing capacity has been bumped to 1500kg.
- Comfort Upgrades: Heated and ventilated front seats remain standard range-wide, with the Premium adding dual-zone climate control and power lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat.

Expanded Safety Technology
Safety forms a core pillar of the EVO update, with new active systems added to protect occupants and pedestrians.
- Child Presence Detection: Now standard across the range, this system identifies if an occupant is left inside a locked vehicle and triggers an alert.
- Driver Monitoring System: Added as standard equipment across all variants to track driver fatigue and distraction.
- Premium Exclusives: The top-spec Premium model introduces Front Cross Traffic Alert and Front Cross Traffic Brake technology.
800V Architecture and RWD Performance for Premium
The headline mechanical upgrades are reserved for the flagship Atto 3 EVO Premium, which transitions to BYD’s latest e-Platform 3.0 architecture. This brings an 800V system and a switch to a rear-wheel-drive layout.
- Upgraded Powertrain: A new 230kW/380Nm rear-mounted electric motor paired with a larger 74.88kWh battery pack.
- Range & Speed: Delivers a claimed 510km WLTP driving range and completes the 0–100km/h sprint in a brisk 5.5 seconds.
- Faster Charging: The new 800V architecture unlocks 220kW DC fast charging capability, allowing a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in a claimed 25 minutes.
