Isuzu Ute Australia has added a new special edition of its popular D-Max ute, with the Isuzu D-Max Tour Mate edition now on sale in Australia. Based on the mid-spec LS-U and LS-U+ variants, the Tour Mate edition adds $6,000 of the most popular dealer-fit accessories as standard, including a tow bar, weathershields and a canopy.

“The reintroduction of the D-Max Tour Mate not only adds convenience by simplifying the accessory selection process, but it also offers customers unmatched value for money,” said Isuzu Ute Australia’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr Koichiro Yoshida.

“It’s an uncompromising combination of the most sought-after accessories historically chosen by Australian buyers—a package driven by sales data that bundles together what customers want—in a compelling package that offers three times the value for the same money.”

Priced from $69,990 drive away for the LS-U Tour Mate and $72,990 drive away for the LS-U+ Tour Mate, the new special edition is priced $7,490 more than the models it’s based upon (though their costs are plus on-road costs).

Over the LS-U and LS-U+, the Tour Mate adds a tow bar tongue and 50mm ball, a 12-pin wiring harness, an electric brake controller, heated and power-folding towing mirrors, a canopy, slimline weathershields, Tour Mate special edition badging on the tailgate. The canopy included in the Tour Mate features lockable windows, a dual-layer ABS shell, window tints, and LED internal lighting.

That’s on top of the D-Max’s healthy standard equipment list, including dusk-sensing automatic bi-LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry with push button start, a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control and a full suite of active safety equipment, including auto emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and auto high beam. The LS-U+ adds leather trim and electrically adjustable and heated front seats.

The 3.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine under the bonnet of the Tour Mate edition is unchanged from the rest of the range, making 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque. In the Tour Mate, it’s mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system. The payload for the LS-U Tour Mate – which adds 85kg worth of accessories – is 910kg, while the LS-U+ Tour Mate is rated at 905kg.
