Ahead of the first deliveries landing locally in December, Australian pricing and specifications for the 2024 Subaru Impreza have been announced. Available to pre-order now, the new generation Impreza will be available in three grades initially in Australia: the base 2.0L, mid-spec 2.0R and top-spec 2.0S. Pricing starts at $31,490 plus on-road costs – or $4,000 more than the previous entry-level Impreza, which is offset by more standard equipment, according to Subaru.

Subaru Australia’s Managing Director, Blair Read, commented: “The 2024 Impreza offers superior handling in all conditions, a sporty hatchback design, the latest in Subaru’s safety tech, and of course Subaru reliability and retained value.

“The perfect daily driver, a weekend ski trip car, or for country road trips, Impreza offers versatility for the adventures that Subaru owners demand of it.”

Unlike the previous shape Impreza, there will be no sedan bodystyle in the 2024 Subaru Impreza range. As before, it’s only available with a 2.0-litre petrol engine – the 2.0-litre hybrid sold in Japan (and used in the Australian-spec Crosstrek) is reportedly under consideration for Australia, as is the 136kW 2.5-litre engine that’s sold in North America in the Impreza (and is used in the Outback and Forester in Australia).

Dimensionally, the 2024 Subaru Impreza measures 4,490mm long, 1,780mm wide and 1,480, with a 2,670mm long wheelbase – that makes it 15mm longer, 5mm taller and no taller and with the same length wheelbase as the previous Impreza. Its bootspace is quoted at 291-litres – down from the previous car’s 345L boot, and identical to the Crosstrek that it’s largely identical to.

Under the bonnet of the 2024 Subaru Impreza is the same 115kW/196Nm 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine as its Crosstrek sibling, and indeed the previous shape Impreza. All models send power to all four wheels using a CVT automatic transmission with eight stepped ratios.

The claimed combined fuel consumption for the new Impreza is 7.5L/100km, with claimed CO2 emissions of 170g/km.
