Jeep Australia has announced that the 2024 Jeep Compass small SUV lineup will feature all-hybrid drivetrains, which will replace the current model’s petrol and diesel engines. Due locally in the first half of 2024, the Compass e-Hybrid mild-hybrid and Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid combine turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engines with either a 48V mild-hybrid system or a rear electric motor for all-wheel drive.

According to Jeep Australia, “Thanks to the plug-in hybrid technology, the Jeep Compass 4xe features enhanced hybrid capability and performance, ensuring the best possible balance between efficiency, driving fun and attention to the environment. Jeep Compass 4xe is capable of everyday driving in the city as its hybrid plug-in technology allows for zero exhaust emission mobility and 50km of city driving in full-electric mode. Moreover, fun becomes efficient on board the Jeep 4xe Compass and its proverbial off-road capability balances fun driving with the environment in mind.”

Using the same drivetrain as the related Alfa Romeo Tonale, under the bonnet of the 2024 Jeep Compass e-Hybrid mild-hybrid is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and an 48V 15kW electric motor that makes 118kW of power and 240Nm of torque, but is rated at just 4.7L/100km on the WLTP cycle in Europe. The Compass e-Hybrid is front-wheel drive only and uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 2024 Jeep Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid uses a turbocharged 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making either 96kW or 132kW of power and 270Nm of torque powering the front wheels, while a 44kW/250Nm electric motor powers the rear wheels – while there’s an 11.4kWh battery for its all-electric driving range. Jeep claims that the Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid is capable of 50km of all-electric driving and just 1.5L/100km on the WLTP cycle.

The 2024 Jeep Compass e-Hybrid and 4xe plug-in hybrid will go on sale in the first half of 2024 with local pricing and specifications to be announced before then.
