Honda Australia has announced local pricing for the 2023 Honda Civic Type R ahead of its February 2023 release. Priced from $72,600 drive away, the new Civic Type R will go up against other hot hatchbacks in the same price range like the Volkswagen Golf R. Order books for the new Civic Type R will open on December 1st ahead of the first deliveries landing in February 2023.
“Since the world premiere of the all-new Civic Type R in July, more than 4,000 enthusiasts and prospective customers have registered their details via the Honda website, keen to stay up to date with the latest news and information on the new model,” said Honda Australia Director, Carolyn McMahon.
“We understand the level of interest as the Civic Type R represents the pinnacle of performance for Honda, so to support our network partners and customers, we’ve opened the order books early to allow official orders to be placed via our customer experience portal.”
Under the bonnet of the 2023 Honda Civic Type R is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which makes 235kW of power and 420Nm of torque – 7kW and 20Nm more than the previous generation Type R. The engine is mated solely to a six-speed manual transmission, and the power heads to the front wheels via a limited-slip differential and 19-inch alloy wheels with 265/30 ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
Standard equipment for the 2023 Honda Civic Type R includes 19-inch wheels, automatic LED lighting, auto wipers, red suede-effect upholstery, keyless entry and start, auto-folding mirrors, a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, digital radio, a 10.2-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, an active exhaust, selectable driving modes, a wireless phone charger, an acoustic windscreen and LED ambient interior lighting.
Safety equipment includes eight airbags, auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, auto high beam, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, an intelligent speed limiter, driver attention monitoring, a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors.
There are four available colours: ‘Rally Red’, ‘Crystal Black’, ‘Sonic Grey’ and the iconic ‘Championship White’.
