The 2022 LDV T60 Max has gone on sale in Australia armed with a new look, new standard features and a new engine: a 160kW/500Nm twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel mated to either a six-speed manual or new eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Pricing starts at $33,990 drive away (for ABN holders) for the entry-level T60 Max Pro and tops out at $40,490, which is around $5,000 more than the pre-updated T60.

“The Aussie ute market is mega competitive and no longer just about being a work vehicle.” says Dinesh Chinnappa, LDV General Manager.

“Now they double up as a lifestyle choice, allowing owners to enjoy the great outdoors with their family and friends, and still have room for their camping gear, motorbikes, the ability to tow a trailer and so on. In this environment, power has become the critical battleground and the T60 Max mixes it with the best of them.”

Under the bonnet of the 2022 LDV T60 Max is a 160kW/500Nm twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. It’s mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic and fuel consumption is rated at 9.2L/100km for the manual and 9.3L/100km for the auto. That’s a 50kW/140Nm increase on the 2.8-litre single-turbocharged diesel engine that featured in the pre-updated T60 range – while its combined fuel consumption has only risen by 0.5L/100km.

The 2022 LDV T60 Max’s braked towing capacity is 3,000kg – 500kg less than the best number in the ute segment from the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, etc – while the maximum payload is 935kg for the entry-level T60 Max Pro manual (the Luxe’s is 750kg thanks to its ‘comfort’ leaf springs) on its ‘heavy duty’ rear suspension. As with the T60, the T60 Max’s suspension is tuned by Walkinshaw in Australia for local road conditions.

The T60 has had a big styling change in its transition to the T60 Max with an all-new front. The headlights are now a split arrangement, and the grille and mouth have turned into a single-piece item for a more modern look. The interior has also been updated with a new touchscreen and trim materials.
