Skoda Australia has announced a new entry point to its range: the 2024 Skoda Fabia Select, which undercuts the only current Fabia variant by $7,000. Priced from $31,990 drive away nationally means that the Fabia Select now undercuts the Toyota Yaris Ascent Sport in most states, but still offers a healthy level of equipment. Its new pricing now makes it one of the more affordable small hatchbacks on the market and it’s due to arrive in showrooms in August 2024.

“Skoda customers appreciate that when they buy a vehicle from us in a particular segment, they’re often getting more space and equipment than competitor offerings” said Skoda Australia head of product and marketing, Kieran Merrigan.

“The Fabia continues with the enormous boot and generous legroom that surpasses some vehicles from the next class up, while the Select maintains the little Skoda touches that others reserve for flagship models.”

The 2024 Skoda Fabia Select now offers a more affordable entry into the Skoda range. At $7,000 less than the current Fabia Monte Carlo 150 Edition, the Select features less standard equipment than its sportier sibling, but still offers a healthy list for buyers, including automatic LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, an 8.0-inch digital driver’s display and an 8.25-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring as standard.

Above the Select still sits the Monte Carlo, which adds features like a bigger engine, sportier exterior styling, higher-grade LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, a larger touchscreen with satellite navigation, a larger digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, two rear USB-C charging ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear privacy glass, heated front seats and sports suspension.

Powering the Fabia Select is the ’85TSI’ 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque, which also features in the Scala and Kamiq. That makes it 25kW/50Nm less punchy than the upper-spec ‘110TSI’ 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Monte Carlo. It’s paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends drive to the front wheels. Skoda Australia is yet to confirm fuel economy figures for the Fabia Select.

Competitors to the Fabia Select include the $28,500 plus on-road costs Toyota Yaris Ascent Sport Hybrid, the $29,490 +ORC Volkswagen Polo Style and the $28,070 +ORC Mazda2 GT.
