Ahead of the first deliveries landing locally in around August 2024, Australian pricing and specifications for the 2024 Polestar 4 have been announced. Initially offering a two-model lineup with up to 600km of driving range on the WLTP cycle, the Polestar 4 will sit between – not as their names suggest – the Polestar 2 sedan and the Polestar 3 SUV, which launches in Australia in late 2024. Priced from $81,500 plus on-road costs, the Polestar 4 is priced just above its main competitor: the Tesla Model Y.

“The introduction of Polestar 4 into all our markets through the course of 2024 is key to our success, adding this third model to our line-up. Polestar 4 tackles the premium performance class in the D-SUV segment.”

“Polestar 4’s innovative interpretation of an SUV coupé offers great interior space and a stunning appearance,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

The first Polestar model to use a platform from parent company Geely, the 4 sits on the ‘Sustainable Experience Architecture’ (SEA) shared with the Zeekr 001 – another product underneath the Geely umbrella that’s reportedly due for Australia later this year – and using a 94kWh battery that’s good for a range of up to 600km of the WLTP cycle. The Polestar 4 can charge on a DC fast charger up to 200kW for a 5 to 80 per cent charge in as little as 32 minutes.

Powering the 2024 Polestar 4 are a choice of two drivetrains: a 200kW/343Nm rear-mounted electric motor in the Long Range Single Motor, or that plus another electric motor on the front axle for 400kW/686Nm outputs in the Long Range Dual Motor. The single motor variant hits 100km/h in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h, while the dual motor cuts the sprint time to just 3.8 seconds and increases the top speed to 200km/h. The dual motor’s range drops to 560km on the WLTP cycle.
