The Australian pricing and specifications for 2023 GWM Ora have been announced ahead of the first local deliveries later in the month. Priced from $44,490 drive away (depending on location), the Ora is the cheapest electric car in Australia, and offers up to 420km of driving range (WLTP).

2023 GWM Ora

Under the bonnet of the 2023 GWM Ora is a 126kW/250Nm electric motor that drives the front wheels. The Ora Standard Range gets its power from a 48kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed 310km of range on the WLTP cycle, with the Long Range and GT using a larger 63kWh unit for 420km of range. According to GWM, charging from 10 to 80 per cent can occur in as little as 41 minutes.

2023 GWM Ora

The 2023 GWM Ora measures 4,235mm long, 1,825mm wide, 1,603mm tall and rides on a 2,650mm long wheelbase, making it sized between a Toyota Yaris and Corolla. The boot measures 228-litres with the seats up and 858L with the rear seats folded.

Standard equipment on the 2023 GWM Ora Standard Range and Long Range includes 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED lighting, leatherette upholstery, a six-way electric driver’s seat, a four-way electric front passenger seat, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, heated and auto-folding mirrors, keyless entry and start and an auto-dimming rear mirror.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags, auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, lane keeping assistance with lane trace assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, auto high beam, rear collision warning, rear parking sensors and a 360-degree parking camera. The Ora has a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

The upper-spec 2023 GWM Ora GT adds different 18-inch alloy wheels, sportier styling, a hands-free electric tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, red brake callipers, memory functionality for the driver’s seat, heated steering wheel and automatic parking.

The 2023 GWM Ora will be available in a choice of five exterior two-tone colours: ‘Hamilton White’ (non-metallic), ‘Sun Black’, ‘Glacier Blue’, ‘Mars Red’ and ‘Aurora Green’. All metallic options are $595 extra, and ‘Aurora Green’ comes with a turquoise interior, while all other options come with a black interior.
