Australian pricing and specifications for the 2023 Cupra Leon V have been announced ahead of its arrival into local showrooms early next year. The new entry point to the Cupra brand in Australia, the Leon V uses a lower-powered 140kW version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that’s used in upper-spec Leon models, but keeps almost all of its standard equipment aside from larger wheels. The new Leon variant is priced from $47,990 drive away and will be available to order in January.

“Our leading turbo four-cylinder is perfect for those who like their engine to be in perfect sync with a hot hatch chassis, rounding out four degrees of spice in our engine line-up – 140kW for this V, 180kW for VZ and VZe, and 221kW for VZx.
Under the bonnet of the 2023 Cupra Leon V is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the rest of the Leon range, but in this tune, it produces 140kW of power and 320Nm of torque. Like the rest of the Leon range, the V is front-wheel drive and uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It sprints to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds – only a second slower than the 180kW Leon VZ – and it uses 6.2L/100km and emits 141g/km of CO2 on the combined cycle.
Standard equipment on the 2023 Cupra Leon V includes 18-inch alloy wheels with adaptive dampers, automatic all-LED exterior lighting with automatic wipers, rear privacy glass, cloth bucket seats, a heated leather steering wheel, tri-zone climate control with rear vents, a 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio, satellite navigation, a wireless phone charger, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, four USB-C ports, drive mode selection, keyless entry and start, heated and auto-folding mirrors, an auto-dimming rear mirror, LED interior ambient lighting and illuminated scuff plates.
Safety kit includes 10 airbags, auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist with lane trace assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, auto high beam, rear auto braking, driver fatigue monitoring, safe exit assist, automatic parking, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
Optionally available is a $2,500 Leather and Sound Package, which adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory functionality, copper dashboard stitching and a nine-speaker Beats sound system, as well as an $1,800 sunroof.
No cost colour options include ‘Nevada White’, ‘Magnetic Tech’ and ‘Midnight Black’, while ‘Desire Red’ or ‘Graphene Grey’ cost $475 extra.
