Mazda Australia has confirmed pricing for the all‑new 2026 CX‑5, with the updated SUV set to arrive mid‑year and launching from under $40,000. The brand says the 2026 Mazda CX-5 delivers “significant value” over the outgoing model, signalling meaningful upgrades across the range.
How much will the CX-5 cost and what equipment does it come with?
Mazda’s confirmed starting point places the new CX‑5 right in the heart of the fiercely competitive mid‑size SUV segment. The sub‑$40K entry price positions it closely against key rivals from Toyota, Hyundai, and Nissan.

What else is new or not-so new?
The next-generation CX-5 remains petrol-powered across the entire range, with just one engine on offer: Mazda’s G25 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder. It produces 132kW and 242Nm, slightly reduced from the previous model due to Euro 6 emissions requirements. It runs on regular 91 RON fuel and has a claimed combined consumption of 7.4L/100km. Expect a hybrid in the coming few years.

The 2.5-litre engine is paired with Mazda’s six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard. Equipment levels are generous, and all variants come with key safety technology including autonomous emergency braking for both forward and reverse, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality.

Mazda has also increased the size of the new CX-5. Overall length grows by 115mm to 4690mm, width increases by 15mm to 1860mm and the wheelbase stretches by another 115mm to 2815mm. Boot space is improved too, up by 28 litres to 466 litres with the rear seats upright and rising to 1594 litres, an increase of 254 litres, with the seats folded. Expect this to liberate more interior space, which has long been something a little lacking in the outgoing model. This extra space should also bode well with the svelte interior design, adding the CX-5’s upmarket feel inside.
