The GWM Ora electric hatchback is now priced from $39,990 before on-road costs – a reduction of $4,000 and bringing its pricing in line with the other cheap EVs on the Australian market such as the MG 4 and the BYD Dolphin. The $38,990 MG 4, the $39,890 BYD Dolphin and the $39,990 GMW Ora now all well and truly come in under $40,000 before on-road costs and show just how quickly the EV market is heating up in Australia.

It might have been launched just two months ago, but GWM has wasted no time in sharpening the Ora’s value proposition. Drive-away pricing differs from state to state, but the Ora Standard Range now costs as little as $40,606 drive-away in the Australian Capital Territory, and buyers can also take advantage of their state or territory’s EV rebates, too. Purchasing a GWM Ora in Queensland will allow buyers to get up to a $6,000 refund on the Ora’s purchase price thanks to the state’s Zero Emission Vehicle Rebate Scheme. Suddenly, EVs are decent value for money, and dare we say it – affordable in today’s market.

Other models higher up in the GWM Ora range have also received price cuts: the Ora Extended Range is now $45,990 (down $2000), and the Ora GT comes in at $51,990. GWM has also added a new model to the Ora range, the Ultra, priced from $48,990 plus on-road costs. Standard equipment mirrors that of the Ora GT, the Ultra but goes without the GT’s sports body kit for a tamer look.

GWM has also set out to sweeten the Ora’s ownership proposition by offering a complementary home charger for Ora Extended Range, Ora Ultra and Ora GT customers, a $1690 no cost inclusion.

2023 GWM Ora Australian pricing (plus on-road costs):

  • Ora Standard Range – $39,990 (down $4,000)
  • Ora Extended Range – $45,990 (down $2,000)
  • Ora Ultra – $48,990 (new)
  • Ora GT – $51,990 (down $2,000)
