An all-new generation of Toyota’s ever popular large SUV, the 2024 Toyota LandCruiser Prado, is slated to arrive on our shores in the middle of this year. A full 15 years after the current model arrived in 2009, the new Prado is considerably more modern than the model it’s replacing. Toyota has also announced the Australian models, including a new Altitude model, and the standard features across the range.

The 2024 Toyota LandCruiser Prado features a new off-road focused variant, a new drivetrain with mild-hybrid technology and Toyota says that there are major improvements to drivability, technology and design.

Of the new generation SUV, Toyota’s Sean Hanley says that “The new-generation Prado will continue the legacy forged by its predecessors when it arrives here later this year, with the addition of 48-volt technology and the new Altitude grade making it more appealing than ever.”

The GX, GXL, VX and Kakadu grades are carried over from the existing model, with the addition of the Altitude model, splitting the top of the range into an off-road-focused option and a luxury option, similar to the LandCruiser 300 Series and its GR Sport and Sahara ZX models.

A 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel is with mild-hybrid technology and an eight-speed automatic transmission powers all models across the range, producing 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque. All models also feature a full-time four-wheel drive system with a torque-sensing lockable centre differential. All new 2024 Toyota LandCruiser Prado models in Australia have a 3500kg towing capacity as well.
