Ahead of a 2024 Australian arrival, the 2024 McLaren GTS has been revealed. Replacing the current GT with a mild exterior makeover, added performance and retuned dynamics, the GTS is – like the GT – aimed at cars like the Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin DB12 and Ferrari Roma as the company’s grand tourer offering. Australian models are priced from $419,392 plus on-road costs.

“The new McLaren GTS offers an unmatched blend of McLaren driving dynamics and performance, with refinement and practicality. When you want a true supercar driving experience, the GTS delivers that; when you want to relax on a longer journey with luggage for a weekend away, the GTS is an ideal companion. This is a car that is true to McLaren’s racing DNA but with multiple layers of ability.”  said Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive.

Under the bonnet of the 2024 McLaren GTS is the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 engine as the current GT, though its peak power output has grown to 467kW (+11kW) at 7,500rpm, which peak torque remains unchanged at 630Nm between 5,500rpm and 6,500rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Despite the extra power – and even 10kg less weight at 1,520kg – the 2024 McLaren GTS’ 0-100km/h sprint time is unchanged from the GT at just 3.2 seconds, as is its 326km/h top speed, though its 0-100km/h sprint time is now 0.1 seconds less at 8.9 seconds.

Other upgrades over the GT that it replaces include a unique tune for the steering, adaptive suspension and carbon ceramic braking system. Speaking of the brakes, the GTS uses 390mm discs and six-piston aluminium callipers up front and 380mm discs with four-piston callipers at the rear, while Pirelli P Zero tyres sit on the 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels, both of which have new design options.

The GTS’ adaptive dampers have three modes: comfort, sport and track, while there’s also a vehicle lift system to help with driveways and so on, which raises the ground clearance from 110mm to 130mm. This is done in just four seconds, which is half the time of the GT that the GTS replaces. As with the GT, the 2024 McLaren GTS is a grand tourer, with the company proud of its daily usability and comfort. Part of that is its bootspace, a claimed 420-litres at the rear and another 150L at the front.

2024 McLaren GTS cabin

Inside the 2024 McLaren GTS is largely unchanged compared to the GT that it replaces. Standard features include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display with a 7.0-inch portrait touchscreen with digital radio, while Nappa leather upholstery is standard. Optional features include a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, softgrain aniline leather trim and a panoramic sunroof with electrochroamatic panelling with five different modes.

On the outside, the GTS features a new lower front bumper section with more noticeable air intakes, which can be optioned in carbon fibre. The rear diffuser section has been redesigned, while there are new ‘Mantis Green’, ‘Tanzanite Blue’, ‘Ice White’ and ‘Lava Grey’ – the colour shown in the press photos released by McLaren – with red flecks.
