The refreshed 2022 Skoda Kodiaq large seven-seat SUV has been revealed in Europe, with an Australian launch due by the end of the year in December.
Skoda has attempted to give the 2022 Kodiaq a more luxurious and refined feel through improved tech, a new design and a higher quality interior.
Kicking off with the exterior design, the front features a new grille and bumper, along with more elegant and slimmer split headlights which can now be optioned with Matrix LED technology designed to help light the road better.
Out back, Skoda’s design tweaks have been subtle and include a new incorporated spoiler, together with slimmer LED tail lights. New alloy wheel designs feature across the range.
Jumping inside, buyers will be able to find some Skoda’s newest steering wheels, 8 or 9.2 inch screens running Skoda’s latest infotainment, along with new front seats which feature heating, ventilation, and massaging functions. A leatherette dashboard with stitching is also available.
Interesting options available in Europe include vegan seats made from recycled materials and a new 575W premium sound system made by Canton with a total of 10 speakers.
Whilst the cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior are rather minor, Skoda has thoroughly revamped the engines throughout the Kodiaq range. Perhaps most interestingly for Australia is what has happened to the 2021 Kodiaq RS, which is now no longer a diesel. The old 176kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel found in the old model has been swapped with a 180kW 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine seen in so many VW Group cars.
Apart from the Kodiaq RS going from diesel to petrol, expect the other Kodiaq, Kodiaq Sportline, and Kodiaq RS trim levels in the Australian lineup to still come with the 132kW/320Nm 2.0 TSI with all-wheel drive and DSG auto.
