Volkswagen Australia has released a new special edition version of the Tiguan Allspace, which will start hitting dealerships in August 2022. Based on the entry-level Tiguan Allspace Life but with more adventure-themed features, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Adventure uses the same 162TSI 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine as higher variants in the Tiguan Allspace range. It’s limited to around 1,000 units and is specific to Australia.
Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles Michal Szaniecki said the new Tiguan Allspace Adventure “delivers unique appeal to Volkswagen customers by perfectly combining performance with practicality.”
“With the largest boot volume ever offered on a Tiguan, among the most power in the segment plus tough underbody changes, the Allspace Adventure caters to on and off road thrill seekers.”
Priced at $51,990 plus on-road costs ($3,400 more than the Tiguan Allspace 132TSI Life on which it’s based), the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Adventure removes the regular Allspace’s sixth and seventh seats and is uniquely (in Australia) a five seater. Because of that, the Adventure’s boot is 760-litres, which is 60L more than the regular Allspace.
Other Adventure-specific features include 17-inch wheels, sports suspension, a quicker steering rack, increased battery capacity with a 180-amp alternators, tinted windows and heated front seats.
That’s on top of the regular Allspace Life’s equipment, which includes LED lighting, auto lights and wipers, tri-zone climate control, auto-folding and heated mirrors, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and gesture control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging and Volkswagen’s ‘IQ.Drive’ safety systems, which includes auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, travel assist with adaptive lane guidance, lane assist, emergency assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, auto high beam, auto parking, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and driver fatigue monitoring.
Buyers also get one of the following adventure packages thrown in: 1) snow chains and front and rear all-weather floor mats, 2) a sun blind set for rear side and rear window and all-weather floor mats (front and rear) or 3) a luggage compartment tray/boot liner, a loading protection plate and front and rear all-weather floor mats.
