Peugeot has confirmed that it will sell its first fully-electric products in Australia, with the e-2008 small SUV and e-Partner van due on sale locally from around June 2023. Launching almost two years since the first electrified Peugeots locally – the plug-in hybrid variants of the 508 mid-sizer and 3008 mid-size SUV – the e-2008 and e-Partner open the Peugeot brand to more customers than ever before, especially with an all-electric van, which is still a new concept on the Australian market.

Kate Gillis, Managing Director of Peugeot Australia, commented: “This year, we have set out to accelerate our local electrification journey and the exciting addition of the e-2008 will play an important role in building our electrified offering and ultimately offering more choice for Australian consumers.

“The 2008 has a powerful and distinctive style and now the addition of an Electric Vehicle variant, this will certainly strengthen the appeal of our small SUV range.”

“We are confident that the arrival of our first electric vehicle will provide new avenues for growth for the brand as well as further choice for discerning Peugeot LCV customers wanting to make the move to electric.”

Peugeot’s all-electric rollout will see the e-Partner launched first at around the half way point of 2023, with the e-2008 launching in the third quarter.

The e-2008 uses a 100kW/260Nm electric motor driving the front wheels, which draws power from a 50kWh battery pack. The claimed driving range is 333km on the WLTP cycle, while it can be charged on a 100kW charger in as little as 30 minutes.

Peugeot is yet to announce local pricing, however it has confirmed that it will launch in a single highly-specified spec, which we anticipate to be priced in the $60,000 range – a reasonable amount above the regular 2008 GT Sport’s $51,888 plus on-road costs asking price.

The e-Partner uses the same 100kW/260Nm electric motor driving the front wheels, with the same 50kWh battery pack that can be topped up from a 100kW charger in as little as half an hour. The claimed range for the e-Partner is 275km (WLTP), and while local pricing is yet to be announced, a starting price in the $50,000 range (plus on-road costs) has been rumoured by other local media. Just a long-wheelbase version of the e-Partner will be offered in Australia.

The Peugeot e-2008 and e-Partner will go on sale in Australia from June 2023, with local pricing and specifications to be confirmed before then. Stay tuned to DiscoverAuto for the latest automotive news and reviews.
