Following on from yesterday’s announcement for the new Civic Type R’s Australian pricing, Honda Australia has revealed the final piece of the local Civic piece: pricing and specifications for the 2023 Honda Civic e:HEV LX. Positioned as the top-spec non-Type R Civic, the Civic e:HEV LX is powered by a new 2.0-litre hybrid drivetrain and adds more equipment to the current Civic VTi-LX. The Civic e:HEV LX marks a return of the Civic hybrid to Australia after more than a decade.

“The new Civic marked a step change for Honda in the small car segment, with the latest generation elevating key aspirational elements of the Honda brand such as craftsmanship, premium quality and intuitive design,” said Carolyn McMahon, Director, Honda Australia.

“The newest addition to the Civic line-up features the latest iteration of Honda’s proven two-motor e:HEV powertrain technology, representing the next phase in our commitment to introduce hybrid variants of each vehicle line with the arrival of every full model change.

Under the bonnet of the 2023 Honda Civic e:HEV LX is a 2.0-litre hybrid drivetrain with two electric motors, which makes 135kW of power and 315Nm of torque – 1kW more power and 75Nm more torque than the 1.5-litre turbo Civic. That’s in addition to the equipment that the Civic VTi-LX already has, including 18-inch wheels, automatic LED lighting, auto wipers, a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Appel CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, heated front seats, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, an eight-way driver and four-way front passenger electric front seat, heated and auto-folding mirrors, auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, auto high beam, traffic jam assist and driver attention monitoring.

The 2023 Honda Civic e:HEV LX also debuts Honda Connect, a mobile application and server platform that allows customers to access vehicle information and interact with their vehicle via a Telematics Control Unit. This will allow owners to cool or heat up their car ahead of time, turn the lights on to locate it at night and both lock and unlock the car. It will also automatically inform emergency services if the vehicle is involved in an accident, while features of the trip computer like fuel level will also be available to check.
