The all-new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder has been revealed and is set to come Down Under in 2022. Featuring a new look, new technology, more safety features and an updated and significantly more modern interior, the new Pathfinder is set to freshen up Nissan Australia’s lineup alongside the new Qashqai and X-Trail.

The engine used is the only similar part of the car to the old model – it’s a revised version of the 3.5-litre petrol V6 engine seen in the previous model. But the transmission has been – thankfully! – changed from the previous CVT unit to a new nine-speed torque converter automatic.

Nissan Australia has not released outputs for this engine for the local spec models, but the American variant of the car produces 212kW of power and 351Nm of torque and we expect Australian models to produce very similar outputs.

Pathfinders fitted with a likely-optional all-wheel drive system will also feature Nissan’s ‘terrain-select’ driving modes that will give the option of standard, sport, eco, snow, sand, mud and even a towing mode for enhanced ability.

Unlike the Mazda CX-9, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will feature a standard eight-seat layout that will feature three seats in both row two and three and there will also be an option to reduce seating capacity to seven through two captain’s chairs in the second row. The third row can fold 60:40 to create more cargo room, while the second row will also have one-touch folding so occupants can easily access the third row.

A new infotainment system will also debut on the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder that will include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite navigation and digital radio. The interior will also have wireless smartphone charging and a 13-speaker Bose sound system – likely on the top-spec car – and a 360-degree camera with parking sensors all round will feature as well.

There are styling cues that hark back to Nissans first generation Pathfinder, such as the masculine front grille and the more conventional shape of the rear – this is more square in shape, like the original model. There will be more personalisation options available for the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder through optional dual-tone paint.

A total of 11 colour combinations will be available in Australia, including four new two-tone options – the car in these pictures shows the new ‘Scarlet Ember’ colour with the ‘Super Black Metallic’ roof .
