Not too long after its global reveal, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will go on sale in Australia in mid-2022 priced from $82,250 plus on-road costs. Now featuring seven seats for the first time, the new Grand Cherokee L will be available with a single drivetrain for now, as well as three different models for buyers to choose from. According to Jeep, the new Grand Cherokee elevates the brand to new heights in luxury.

“As the most refined and technologically advanced model we’ve released to date, the arrival of the all-new Grand Cherokee L represents another landmark Jeep moment and sets the new standard for our brand,” said Kevin Flynn, Jeep Australia Managing Director.

“The added versatility of its seven-seat layout goes hand-in-hand with an entirely new architecture, myriad safety and assistance systems, exceptional material quality and the latest advancements in our famed 4×4 capability, making the Grand Cherokee L a truly premium offering in every sense of the word.”

Priced from $82,250 plus on-road costs, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will be offered with a single engine in Australia: the familiar 3.6-litre ‘Pentastar’ V6 petrol engine that makes 210kW of power and 344Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 5.7-litre ‘Hemi’ V8 and 3.0-litre diesel V6 from the previous generation Grand Cherokee have been shelved for this generation in Australia, unfortunately. A regular five-seat Grand Cherokee will be launched later this year.

While the engine is the same as before, the new Grand Cherokee L is a clear step up in luxury with a wide range of new equipment available such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Jeep’s new ‘UConnect 5’ software, wireless smartphone mirroring, quilted ‘Palermo’ leather upholstery, open pore wood trimmings, a fully digital driver’s display and as part of an option pack on the top-spec Summit Reserve, night vision and a front passenger interactive screen. Safety equipment includes auto emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, active lane management, traffic sign recognition and driver attention monitoring.

The mid-spec Limited ($87,950 plus on-road costs) adds ‘Premium Capri’ leather upholstery, memory for the driver’s seat, heated second row seating, ambient LED lighting, polished 20-inch wheels, a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen and a nine-speaker sound system.
