Hyundai Australia has quietly launched an upgrade for its seven-seat Santa Fe SUV, with the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe available to order now. Focusing on new standard equipment such as a centre airbag across the range, the updated Santa Fe is safer and better equipped than before. Prices have risen by up to $1,700 but Hyundai claims the car’s value equation is sharper than before.

New features to the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe range include a new front centre airbag, multi-collision braking and a USB port for the third row of seating. The Santa Fe Active also gains chrome exterior details such as the door trim, skid plate and front grille, while the Elite gains a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, heated front seats and LED tailights.

Because of these upgrades, the base Santa Fe and Highlander pricing has risen by $800, while the Active has increased by $1,450 and the Elite by $1,700.

Drivetrains for the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe remain the same – a 200kW/331Nm 3.5-litre petrol V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission or a 148kW/440Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The petrol V6 is front-wheel drive and the diesel is all-wheel drive. On a combined fuel economy cycle, the V6 uses 10.5L/100km and the diesel just 6.1L/100km
