Almost four years after its global debut, the 2024 Peugeot E-208 has finally been confirmed for Australian sales in 2024. Coinciding with the current generation 208’s just-revealed mid-life facelift, the E-208 will launch in Australia with up to 400km of range in likely a top-spec GT model to compete with cars like the Fiat 500e, as well as the MG 4 and GWM Ora.

Kate Gillis, Managing Director Peugeot Australia, commented: “The new E-208 is a dynamic, modern, and highly alluring city car that we believe will capture the attention of many local buyers when we welcome it to Australia next year.

“As we continue to broaden our electrified offering, the new E-208 will strengthen our range as we re-enter the small hatch market in Australia. We are confident the E-208’s exciting electric performance and eye-catching design will appeal to that segment’s customer.”

While full details are yet to be revealed for Australian-spec models, in Europe, the 2024 Peugeot E-208 is available with a 115kW/260Nm electric motor that drives the front wheels for a claimed 8.1 second 0-100km/h sprint time. That motor is fed by a 51kWh battery pack, offering up to 400km of range. It can be charged at up to 7.4kW using an AC charger, or 100kW using a DC charger, for a 20 to 80 per cent charge in as little as 20 minutes, according to Peugeot.

Based on the updated 208, the 2024 Peugeot E-208 has seen new front and rear styling to bring it up to date with the company’s latest design language. There are new three ‘lighting claw’ daytime running lights on each side of the front, while the grille has been redesigned as well. At the rear, new tailight graphics feature, while there’s new ‘P E U G E O T’ lettering as well. New wheels complete the exterior design updates.

Inside the 2024 Peugeot E-208 is a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s borrowed from the new 308, which features over-the-air updates and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Globally, the E-208 is offered in a variety of models, but like the recently announced for Australia E-2008, we predict Peugeot Australia offering it only in high-spec form, likely using the GT badge from overseas. We expect standard equipment to include leather and suede upholstery, the company’s digital ‘i-Cockpit’ driver info display and safety features like auto emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, blind-spot monitoring and driver attention alert.

The 2024 Peugeot e-208 is due in Australian showrooms sometime in 2024. Stay tuned to DiscoverAuto for the latest automotive news and reviews.
