The Volkswagen ID. 2all concept car has debuted in Europe and previews a production car that’s due to debut in 2025. Volkswagen is targeting a €‎25,000 starting price (AU$40,000) with its new electric hatchback, and it will reportedly sit underneath the ID.3 hatchback currently on sale in Europe. Using the ‘MEB Entry’ platform, the ID. 2all concept is front-wheel drive, uses a 166kW electric motor and Volkswagen is targeting a driving range of up to 450km (WLTP).

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars: “We are transforming the company rapidly and fundamentally – with the clear objective of making Volkswagen a genuine Love Brand. The ID. 2all shows where we want to take the brand. We want to be close to the customer and offer top technology in combination with fantastic design. We are implementing the transformation at pace to bring electric mobility to the masses.”

Based on the company’s new MEB Entry platform, the Volkswagen ID. 2all measures 4,050mm long, which makes it slightly longer than the current Volkswagen Polo, but its 2,600mm wheelbase is much longer, giving it more interior space. The claimed bootspace for the ID 2.all is a large 490-litres, with 1,330L available with the seats folded.

The MEB Entry platform has been designed with two battery sizes: 38kWh and 56kWh, and it will reportedly offer up to 450km of range on the WLTP cycle from the larger battery option in the Volkswagen ID. 2all. The company claims that the larger battery will be able to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 20 minutes, with a maximum charge rate of 125kW. The Volkswagen ID. 2all concept uses a 166kW motor powering the front wheels for a 0-100km/h time of under 7.0 seconds.

The Volkswagen ID. 2all previews a new design language for the company, while the interior features a new 12.9-inch touchscreen with a new infotainment system with a ‘classic volume slider’, switchable themes – including classic themes from older models like the Beetle – and even features such as a dual wireless phone charger. There’s also a 10.9-inch digital instrument cluster with an augmented reality heads-up display.

The Volkswagen ID. 2all will reportedly go into production in 2025 in Spain alongside new Cupra and Skoda models. It will sit above a €20,000 EV that will also use the same platform. Both cars will form part of the company’s EV offensive, with 10 new models planned to launch before 2026.

The production version of the Volkswagen ID. 2all will reportedly debut in 2025, while Australian sales are yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned to DiscoverAuto for the latest automotive news and reviews.
