Jeep Australia has confirmed that the 2024 Jeep Avenger electric small SUV will go on sale locally in the second half of 2024. Using a 54kWh battery, the Avenger offers a claimed 400km of range on the WLTP cycle and sits on the same platform as the Peugeot e-2008 that’s due locally soon. It uses a 115kW/260Nm electric motor that drives the front wheels only – for now, at least.

“The Jeep Avenger represents a key milestone for the Jeep brand, our first zero exhaust emission SUV,” said Michael Filazzola, Jeep Australia Managing Director.

“A compact SUV, the Avenger will provide a new entry point to the Jeep range while adding another level of electrification to our offering in Australia and represents a further step in the Jeep brand’s evolution,” Filazzola continued.

Using the same ‘CMP’ platform as the Peugeot e-2008, which is due on sale locally soon, the 2024 Jeep Avenger measures 4,08m long. The Avenger is built in Poland, and is already on sale in Europe, where it won the 2023 European Car of the Year award.

Under the body of the 2024 Jeep Avenger is a 54kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion battery that enables a claimed 400km of range on the WLTP cycle – though Jeep says up to 550km of range is achievable if driven solely in urban conditions. The battery powers a 115kW/260Nm electric motor that drives the front wheels only. The Avenger can be DC fast charged at up to 100kW for a 20 to 80 per cent recharge in 24 minutes.

The 2024 Jeep Avenger is currently only front-wheel drive, though the brand has previously shown a more rugged 4×4 concept. Despite only being front-wheel drive currently, the Avenger has off-road features like hill descent control, 200mm of ground clearance, a range of terrain modes like mud and snow and even underbody skid plates.

Inside the 2024 Jeep Avenger is a minimalist cabin layout with lots of inbuilt technology like 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring, 7.0- and 10.25-inch digital driver’s displays, a push button transmission selector and features like electric front seats, leather trim inserts and a power boot.

The 2024 Jeep Avenger is also available with a long list of active safety tech, including auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assistance, level two autonomous driving functionality (with adaptive cruise control, lane centre assist and traffic jam assist), driver fatigue monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, auto high beam and automatic parking.

The 2024 Jeep Avenger will go on sale in Australia in the second half of 2024, with local pricing and specifications to be confirmed before then. Stay tuned to DiscoverAuto for the latest automotive news and reviews.
