Not long after adding a new entry-level Kamiq small SUV, Skoda Australia has also added a new entry-level version of the Karoq medium SUV. Priced from $39,990 drive away, the new entry-level 2024 Skoda Karoq reduces the price of entry to the Karoq range by $4,500, yet still offers a good level of standard equipment including auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring and a digital instrument cluster.
Skoda Australia head of marketing and product Kieran Merrigan said the new Karoq directly brings a more attainable price tag, high standard features, excellent ownership value and classic Karoq space utilisation.
“The Karoq is unique in the medium SUV segment in that it combines compact dimensions with the greater space utilisation and packaging intelligence that Skoda is renowned for,” Mr Merrigan said.
Against the now-mid-spec Karoq Style, the 2024 Skoda Karoq loses equipment including digital radio, a larger 10.5-inch digital instrument cluster, the brand’s ‘VarioFlex’ removable rear seats, an electric hands-free tailgate, keyless entry with push button start, a wireless phone charger. However, it still includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting with scrolling rear indicators, roof rails, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto wipers and a full suite of active safety kit, including auto emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control. Unlike the upper-spec Karoq Style, the only option for the base model is premium paint ($770).
The entry-level 2024 Skoda Karoq is powered by the same ‘110TSI’ 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the upper-spec Style, which sends power to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The claimed combined fuel consumption for the Karoq 110TSI is 6.5L/100km.
