Hyundai has teased some new shady renderings to the world of the midlife update for its Kona small SUV. The 2021 Hyundai Kona will introduce a fresh face for the popular SUV, as well as a sporty N-Line grade to top off the range before the hot Kona N arrives later next year.

From what we have gathered, the new Kona will wear a fresh grille, featuring design elements that make the Kona appear wider and more athletic. The Kona’s front end has always polarised opinions and the new model should continue to do so.

The front also features updated daytime running lights, new cladding at the bottom of the bumper, whilst the Hyundai badge has been repositioned all in an effort to make the Kona appear more aggressive.

Hyundai also showed the upcoming N-Line version of the Kona SUV in one of the teaser images. The model will wear a bumper with a three-slot opening near the bonnet to supposedly help with cooling. Expect the company’s widely-used 150kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine to feature on this model.

The Hyundai Kona is currently the second best-selling model in the small SUV segment with 6264 sales year-to-date, with the Mitsubishi ASX taking pole position with 7847 registrations and the Toyota C-HR coming in third, with 5411 year-to-date sales.
