The Geely EX2 has been confirmed as the brand’s first non-SUV model for Australia, with a compact electric hatchback set to arrive in the second half of 2026. The new model, known as the EX2 in overseas markets and the Star Wish in China, where it is the country’s best-selling car this year, will join the brand’s local lineup alongside the EX5 and Starray EM-i SUVs. It’s built on Geely’s Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA) and brings a rear-wheel drive layout to the small EV segment.

The EX2 measures around 4135mm long, 1805mm wide, and 1580mm tall, with a 2650mm wheelbase – making it similar in size to a Toyota Corolla. Inside, Geely promises clever packaging with a flat floor, over 30 storage compartments, and even a front trunk for added practicality.

Two configurations are offered overseas:

  • A 58kW motor paired with a 30.1kWh LFP battery, delivering up to 310km range (CLTC).
  • An 85kW motor with a 40.2kWh battery, offering up to 410km range (CLTC).

Charging specs vary by market, but in Thailand the EX2 supports 6.6kW AC charging and 70kW DC fast charging, with a 30 to 80% top-up taking around 20–25 minutes.

Pricing for Australia hasn’t been confirmed, but given its positioning overseas, where it starts from the equivalent of around $19,000. Expect it to undercut rivals like the MG4 and BYD Dolphin. If Geely can deliver a drive-away price in the low-$30,000 range, the EX2 could become one of the most affordable EVs in the country.

Geely EX2

The EX2 has been a huge success in China, selling over 400,000 units since launch and more than 50,000 in September alone. Its arrival signals Geely’s intent to broaden its appeal beyond SUVs and compete aggressively in the growing small EV segment.
