Mazda Australia has confirmed local pricing and specifications for the 2024 Mazda CX-30, which is due to go on sale locally in January 2024. Like the recently updated Mazda3 range – of which the CX-30 is closely related to – the updated CX-30 ushers in new technology, new features and a revised model range with only two drivetrain choices now available. Like the recent Mazda3 update , the brand has killed manual transmission availability for our market, while the former mild-hybrid engines have also been culled thanks to lack of popularity.

Commenting on the updated Mazda CX-30, Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director of Mazda Australia said: “An enduring hit among Australian buyers, the latest changes to the Mazda CX-30 range make it more appealing, not only in terms of connectivity, but also with an elegant new model grade and efficiency gains that broaden its repertoire as a much-loved, multi-talented compact SUV.”

Centre of the 2024 Mazda CX-30 range update is a new GT SP variant, which replaces the former Touring SP. It’s available solely with the larger 139kW/252Nm 2.5-litre petrol engine and with both front- or optional all-wheel drive. On top of the Touring that sits below it, the GT SP adds features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, black exterior headlights, burgundy-coloured leather upholstery, a sunroof and a new 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The CX-30 GT SP is priced at $42,190 plus on-road costs for front-wheel drive or $42,190 +ORC for all-wheel drive.

The larger infotainment screen and wireless smartphone mirroring and charging is also standard on the top-spec Astina, while it also forms part of an updated Vision Technology Pack that’s available on lesser models, with inclusions varying on the model. Choosing it on the Pure and Evolve ($2,000) adds the aforementioned new screen, front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, lane trace assist with traffic jam assist and front cross-traffic alert. The Touring and GT SP can also be optioned with the package ($1,800 for the Touring and $1,300 for the GT SP) but the Touring already features front parking sensors and the GT SP already features the larger screen.

Like the Mazda3, the 2024 Mazda CX-30 has added a revised 114kW/200Nm 2.0-litre cylinder petrol engine for G20 variants, which has seen its claimed combined fuel consumption fall slightly from 6.5L/100km to 6.3L/100km, while claimed emissions have fallen from 152g/km to 147g/km. Those figures are also slightly less than the former mild-hybrid Evolve G20e that was also killed with this update.
