Ahead of a June 2023 Australian launch – with the first cars due in July – the 2023 Mazda2 has been revealed sporting a new look and aesthetic trim changes to keep it fresh in the market. Focusing mostly on new front and rear bumpers, plus new wheels and even new colours, the updated Mazda2 range will still offer the Pure, Pure SP, Evolve and GT – with the GT also offered in a sedan bodystyle.

“Mazda2 has always been a fan favourite for our newest road users and buyers who enjoy a premium product that also adeptly delivers on safety, quality, economy and drivability,” Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director of Mazda Australia, said.

Stylistically, the 2023 Mazda2 range has been given new front and rear bumpers for a sportier look. The grille now has a ring around it, with the middle part now body coloured. An asymmetrically placed colour badge will be fitted to all 2023 Mazda2 hatchbacks as well – on both the front and rear. There’s a new alloy wheel in a double six-spoke design for the GT, as well as a new dual exhaust system. All models bar the Pure have a shark fin antenna, while the Pure SP has a black roof.

Changes inside the 2023 Mazda2 are less noticeable than the front – the Pure and Pure SP can be had with either mint, white or black (depending on the exterior colour chosen), while the Evolve and GT are available with black trim with red highlights, including the air vent surrounds.

Mazda is yet to announce pricing for the 2023 Mazda2 range, though the current model starts at $21,390 plus on-road costs and extends to $26,490 +ORC. All models continue to use an 82kW/144Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a six-speed automatic transmission – the base Pure can also be had with a six-speed manual.

The updated 2023 Mazda2 range will launch locally in June 2023, with the first deliveries due in July. Stay tuned to DiscoverAuto for the latest automotive news and reviews.
