Just 700 units of the Special Edition models will be making their way to Australia
Mazda Australia has revealed the pricing for their 100th Anniversary Special Edition range. Only 700 units have been allocated for our market, ensuring exclusivity.
Based on high-end versions of the regular Mazda lineup, the 100th Anniversary models are said to be inspired by Mazda’s first ever passenger car – the R360 Coupe. The R360 is credited as the car that took Mazda from a humble cork manufacturer into the automotive industry.
Interestingly, while the R360 was never officially sold in Australia, it covered 1,500km of Australia’s harshest roads from Perth to Esperence in 1962 in a test of reliability.
The Special Edition models are easily identified by the unique Snowflake White Pearl Mica and burgundy leather colour combo, with the MX-5 also featuring a burgundy soft top. Look closer and commemorative badging can be found embossed on headrests and the key fob, as well as badging on the front fenders, alloy wheel centre caps and burgundy floor mats.
While model-specific details are yet to be revealed, we expect each 100th Anniversary model to mirror the equipment of its current top-spec models.
Mazda Australia Director of Sales, Jarrod Gieschen said the special edition models “will look elegant and striking on the road today, and serve as a proud Mazda collector’s item tomorrow.”
