Geely-owned brand Zeekr has officially launched in Australia with the Zeekr X electric small SUV, which uses the same underpinnings as the Volvo EX30 and Smart #3. Available to pre-order from September 16th and with local deliveries commencing from mid-October, the Zeekr X will reportedly be priced from below $60,000 plus on-road costs, which undercuts the EX30. The X will be the brand’s first product in Australia, but the 009 people carrier is due before the end of 2024 and the 7X sometime in 2025.
Connal Yan, Managing Director of Zeekr Australia, commented: “Zeekr’s expansion into the Australian market brings our innovative and cutting-edge electric vehicles to a new audience, offering a unique driving experience that blends style, performance, and sustainability.”
“By selecting SXSW Sydney as the stage for our launch, Zeekr is demonstrating its commitment to innovation, showcasing our products to a global audience, and setting the foundation for a future of limitless possibilities in sustainable mobility.”
Using the same platform as the Volvo EX30, the Zeekr X will be offered in two forms in Australia, both with a 66kWh battery for up to around 450km on the WLTP cycle. Two drivetrains will be offered: a 200kW/343Nm rear-wheel drive model and a 315kW/543Nm dual-motor model.
The former sprints 100km/h in just 5.6 seconds, but the latter reduces that to a very quick 3.8 seconds. The X can be charged at up to 150kW for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in as little as 29 minutes.
In Australia, the Zeekr X will be offered in two models: the RWD and the AWD sitting on top of it. Predicted standard equipment for the two models includes:
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- All-LED exterior lighting
- 8.8-inch digital driver’s display
- 14.6-inch touchscreen with online connectivity
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Panoramic glass roof
- 6-way electric driver’s seat
- Synthetic leather trim
- Wireless phone charger
- Sentry and pet modes
- 3kW vehicle-to-load functionality
Optional for the RWD model will be a Convenience Package, which is standard on the AWD car and includes memory settings for the driver’s seat, power adjustment for the front passenger, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 13-speaker Yamaha sound system, and ambient interior lighting. Pricing for the Convenience Package is yet to be confirmed.
Above the RWD, the AWD adds:
- 20-inch alloy wheels
- Intelligent B-pillar display
- 23.4-inch head-up display
The colour range for the Zeekr X includes green, two greys, white and beige, while interior colour options will include grey/black, blue/white and red/white.
Zeekr will cover its cars with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty. The battery pack is covered by a separate eight-year/160,000km warranty. Servicing is required every two years or 40,000km and service pricing is yet to be revealed.
2025 Zeekr X predicted Australian pricing (plus on-road costs):
- RWD: under $60,000
- AWD: under $70,000
The first Australian Zeekr deliveries will commence in October. Stay tuned to DiscoverAuto for the latest automotive news and reviews.
